Winter 2025 Course Offering: AAS 10 & AAS 11 !
These courses explore the origins, experiences, and conditions of people of African descent. Each course will allow students to learn the lived experiences and freedom dreams of peoples of African descent and the African Diaspora. In addition to taking these courses, students can apply the course credit towards the African American Studies minor or Black Diaspora and African American Studies major.
Mission
The Black Diaspora and African American Studies Program examines Black life in the United States through interdisciplinary, Diasporic frameworks. This approach provides students with robust analytic skills to examine the ways in which African Americans and the the Black Diasporas' multifaceted realities and powerful legacies have shaped and continue to evolve within the current national and international contexts.
