African American Studies Minor

The African American Studies Minor (AASM) at UC San Diego is an interdisciplinary field of study in the arts, humanities, and social sciences. AASM is a scholarly examination of African American life, history, and culture as it has taken shape within the United States and helped to transform the nation.

This approach provides students with robust analytic skills to examine the ways in which African Americans’ multifaceted realities and powerful legacies have shaped and continue to evolve within the current national and international contexts.
